Chatham-Kent and Windsor police will join more than 100 other police agencies around the world in an awareness-raising tweet-a-thon Friday.
Follow the hashtag #poltwt starting at 8 a.m. to see police agencies from New Zealand to Iceland tweet about police work, policing issues and the role of social media in policing. The Chatham-Kent police plan to tweet calls for service in real time, allowing people following the hashtag to take a virtual ride-along.
“It will be a great opportunity for everyone to join the conversation and learn about the daily activities of a patrol officer here in Chatham-Kent and how we use social media to educate and prevent crimes in our community,” said Chatham-Kent Police spokeswoman Renee Cowell in a release.
Global police tweet-a-thon organizers have created a Google map of participating agencies. Follow Windsor Police on Twitter at @WindsorPolice and Chatham-Kent Police at @CKPSMedia.
