Competition has been whittled down to four finalists in the Windsor Essex International Children’s Games theme song contest.

The finalists are Beautiful People by Philip Scott Poli & Glen MacNeil, Let’s Go Play by Ted Lamont, Melody Robinet and The Lakeview Montessori School, Write Your Name on The Sky by Pete Palazzolo, and We Are One by Julie Kryk.

With four potential theme songs, organizers are now looking for musicians.

Performers can go to www.icg-windsoressex2013.com and pick the submission they like most.  They must re-record the song and submit it by April 15. The 90 second performance must be submitted on YouTube.

The basic melody, arrangement and lyrics shouldn’t be changed. But performers can take creative licence as far as genre, tempo, style and instrumentation. The winning songwriters can also submit performances of their own songs.

Chosen submissions will be available on the ICG website for viewing and voting on April 17.    Finalists, selected by public vote and a panel of industry professionals, will be announced April 30 on the website.

The finalists will perform live May 20 during the 121st City of Windsor Birthday Celebration. They will take to the Riverfront Festival Plaza main stage between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. A panel of industry professionals will announce the winner following the performances.

The winning song and performer will be featured in several advertising spots in support of the Windsor Essex 2013 International Children’s games.

The winner will also perform at various public appearances leading up to the games, and in front of 6,500 people on Aug. 15 at the opening ceremonies.
