HAMILTON, Ont. — Police say two men and a woman are facing a total of 13 charges after an armed robbery at a Hamilton pharmacy, a high-risk takedown in Brantford, Ont., and a suspect passing out in a tree.
Police say two men entered the drug store on Wednesday evening, brandished a gun, demanded narcotics and hit a female employee on the head with the butt of the weapon.
Investigators say the thieves filled a duffle bag with fentanyl patches and Dilaudid, fled the store and got into a vehicle, which store staff described to police.
A Hamilton officer followed the vehicle and performed a high-risk traffic stop in Brantford and the female driver and one of the male suspects were arrested.
The third suspect fled and hid in a tree, where police say he consumed some of the stolen fentanyl, passed out and became wedged in a tree branch about 10 metres above the ground.
Officers from the Brantford police service rescued the unconscious suspect from the tree and he was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
