A two-year-old boy is fortunate to have only suffered bumps and bruises in a fall from a second-storey window in Windsor’s west end.

Police were alerted around 9:10 p.m. Thursday about an injured child at an apartment building in the 1000 block of Felix Avenue.

According to police, there were caregivers in the unit at the time of the fall.

The boy apparently climbed from a sofa onto a window ledge, then pushed the window screen until it popped out.

Police estimate the drop from the window to the pavement below is between 16 and 20 feet (five to six metres).

Officers arrived on the scene to find a distraught woman holding the child.

The boy had a large bump on his forehead, but was alert and moving.

Paramedics took him to Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital, where an examination showed he had no broken bones and no life-threatening injuries.

Besides the bump on his forehead, he had facial abrasions and a swollen right eye.
