A golf fundraiser recently held by alumni of Forster high school raised $2,000 for charitable causes on the west end.
The fourth-annual Oaf’s Forster Summer Classic was held in mid-June at Dominion Golf Course. It is named after John O’Farrell, a long-time physical education teacher and coach at the high school.
There were 122 participants in the golf outing, with the proceeds funding two $500 athletic bursaries for students at Forster to continue their post-secondary school education. Also, $1,000 was raised to go toward the Sandwich Teen Action Group — a teen community centre in the west-end.
The winning team of the best-ball tournament was Dave Hawkins, Austen Doyle, Attilla Kadar and Curtis Bannon with a score of 12 under par.
