It’s gonna get hot, hot, hot.
Anticipating a wave of steamy conditions across the region next week, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has issued a Level 2 heat alert for July 14 to 17 — Sunday to next Wednesday.
According to Associate Medical Officer of Health Dr. Gary Kirk, the humidex is expected to crack 40 C on each of those days.
Environment Canada’s weather office is forecasting high temperatures at Windsor Airport above 30 the entire week.
There’s also a 30 per cent chance of rain next Monday and Tuesday — and a 40 per cent chance next Thursday.

Level 2 heat alerts are issued when the humidity index (combining temperature and humidity) reaches or exceeds 40 for four or more consecutive days.
The health unit advises members of the public to drink plenty of water, wear hats and lightweight clothing, limit outdoor activities, take cool baths or showers, and check on family and neighbours — particularly older adults, infants, young children and those with chronic illnesses.
Visit www.StayCoolWindsorEssex.com or call 211 for a list of air-conditioned public cooling centres where citizens can take a break from the stifling heat.
