Windsor police are looking for three robbers who duped their victim into meeting them in person after he went online looking to buy a cellphone.
Officers were dispatched around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday for a robbery in the 1600 block of Moy Avenue.
Police said a 21-year-old man had gone online to buy a cellphone. He found one he liked and set up a meeting. The seller told him to go to 1673 Moy.
When he arrived, the seller wanted to go behind an apartment building. This worried the victim, but he went anyway. They walked to the back of the building, where two other men were waiting.
The first man showed the buyer a phone, but it wasn’t the right one. The man with the phone then suddenly punched the victim and knocked him to the ground.
The man and his accomplices then rifled through the victim’s pockets, stole his wallet and the iPhone he already had, then took off. The victim wasn’t seriously hurt.
Police are looking for three black males in their late teens. They are between 5’10” and six feet tall and were wearing red and white “basketball-style” clothing.
Anyone who may know the robbers or saw them in the area can call Windsor police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830 or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS.
