Windsor Public Library is looking for volunteers to assist with its Book Buddy program, which helps children between the ages of six and 14 with reading difficulties enjoy positive reading experiences.

Volunteers assist kids with their reading and encourage them to read more often.

They are given various resources to assist them, such as work sheets and literacy-based games.

Each volunteer is matched to work one-on-one with a child and meetings can be at any one of the library’s 10 branches.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, attend a 45-minute orientation session, be able to obtain a volunteer police clearance with a non-refundable fee of $20, and make at least a 10-month commitment.

Each week requires a one-hour meeting with your book buddy, selecting interesting material to read, and choosing activities to increase motivation and confidence with the child.

There is high demand for volunteers who can read aloud in English and French.

For more information visit any library branch or email lgould@windsorpubliclibrary.com or call 519-255-6770, ext. 4578.
