A 32-year-old man is nursing bruises on his face after he was reportedly set upon by two muggers near the University of Windsor campus.
The crime happened in the 2100 block of Wyandotte Street West around 2 a.m. Thursday.
The victim — a student — told police that he was walking east on the south side of the street near Rankin Avenue when he was confronted by two black males with large builds.
The victim said both men punched him until he fell to the ground. The robbers then kicked him and demanded to know what he had on him. They removed his black shoulder bag.
The victim fled. He said he last saw the two attackers running south on Rankin Avenue.
Descriptions of the muggers are meager. The victim said they appeared to be in their 30s.
“That’s all he saw,” said Windsor police spokesman Sgt. Matt D’Asti. “He was concentrating on getting away, he says.”
Stolen in the incident were a government cheque and school supplies.
