Emergency crews pulled a body from the Detroit River Wednesday morning after citizens out for a morning stroll watched a man jump into the water.
Crews were dispatched to the river near the foot of Church Street shortly after 8:30 a.m. Witnesses called 911 after seeing the man jump.
A police officer jumped in the water trying to rescue the man, but was unsuccessful.
Other officers cordoned the pathway along the river as onlookers started to gather.
Police confirmed later in the day that the 35-year-old male has passed away.
Foul play is not suspected.
