Windsor police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her bed.
Eric James Brooks, 48, was taken into custody Aug. 30 after he was found by officers in an apartment building in the 400 block of Glengarry Avenue.
Police were called around 11 a.m. to check on the well-being of a tenant at the address.
Brooks faces charges of aggravated sexual assault and being unlawfully in a dwelling.
The original incident happened on Aug. 12.
The female victim — who knows the accused — told police that she was sleeping in her bed in a downtown apartment building when she was awakened around 1:45 a.m. and sexually assaulted by Brooks.
Investigators believe Brooks had a key to enter the apartment.
The suspect fled before police arrived. A warrant was issued for his arrest on Aug. 22.
