The library at Holy Names high school will be dedicated to cherished teacher Tim Hommel, who died suddenly earlier this year.
Students, friends and family have been invited to attend the dedication ceremony today by the school’s library at 2:45 p.m.
The library and area around it are to be christened Hommel’s Hub.
Hommel died of an apparent heart attack at the age of 60 in February. He taught at Holy Names for 28 years and coached volleyball, basketball and soccer, and promoted equality for girls’ sports.
The Knights’ girls’ volleyball team served as an honour guard for his funeral.
Hommel also worked at Brennan and Catholic Central and served as a WECSSAA league convener in basketball and volleyball.
