The funeral for a prominent Leamington business man murdered during a robbery in Brazil will take place Monday.
Dean Tiessen, 46, president of New Energy Farms, was shot and killed Saturday. He had been in Brazil for business meetings. Tiessen and his friend Paul Carver, CEO of New Energy Farms, were driving along Anchieta Highway when they came upon an attempted cargo robbery.
The robbery suspects ordered the pair out of their rental car. At some point, for reasons that are still unknown, the bandits shot Tiessen twice.
Visitation at Reid Funeral Home in Leamington will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, visitation will run from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Leamington United Mennonite Church on Oak Street East.
