Addressing the Toronto Region Board of Trade, Raitt stressed the importance of modern, reliable infrastructure to maintain a safe, efficient and environmentally responsible transportation system.

Raitt mentioned two projects in particular: a new bridge for the St. Lawrence corridor in Montreal and the Detroit River International Crossing.

She also discussed the New Building Canada Plan, for which the federal government will invest $53 billion in infrastructure across the country over the next 10 years.

“World-class infrastructure is the backbone of our country’s economic productivity,” Raitt said. “Our Government is committed to investing in Canada’s infrastructure to reduce commuting times for families, enhance economic competitiveness, encourage job creation and strengthen trade corridors.”
