Books of condolences have been placed at three city locations, so people can express their sympathies to the family of former deputy Prime Minister Herb Gray, who died Monday at the age of 82.
The City of Windsor announced today that the books are located at the main library branch at 850 Ouellette Ave., and in the lobbies of 350 City Hall Square West and 400 City Hall Square East.
In a news release, Mayor Eddie Francis said that on behalf of city council, and the City of Windsor corporation, he wished to extend sincere condolences to the family of Gray, who was elected in 13 straight elections starting in 1962, representing the residents of Windsor West. He was the third-longest serving MP in Canadian history.
“He was a remarkable man who truly cared and did his job for the right reasons,” Francis said. “Mr. Gray was a tireless supporter of our city and will be missed”.
Flags at City of Windsor facilities are being flown at half-mast.
