Details are not being released but a settlement has been reached after Freyssinet Canada – the manufacturer of over 500 faulty girders for the Herb Gray Parkway – agreed to pay what was owed to a local building supply company.

Hotham Building Materials was owed close to $120,000 and launched a lawsuit in February after its outstanding bills reached 175 days past due.

Several other local supply companies were also not paid by Freyssinet, but were not part of the lawsuit.

The girder manufacturer and partner Spanish company Tierra Armada vacated their plant on the city’s west end and left town after being booted from the parkway project by the contractor.

The company triggered controversy for manufacturing what were deemed non-certified and unsafe  girders of which 320 had already been installed. They are currently being removed and replaced on the parkway construction site.

Charlie Hotham, when contacted Wednesday, said a confidentiality clause in the court dispute does not allow him to comment on the status of the lawsuit.

A Toronto lawyer for Freyssinet did not immediately respond to a message from The Star.
