Ron Gaudet, the former head of the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation, has been hired at the University of Windsor.
The university announced today that Gaudet started a two-year term Monday as the school’s special adviser, innovation strategies.
In the role, Gaudet will “help create operational strategies for the university’s new Innovation Centre and Industrial Courtyard,” which is slated to open 2013.
The reason for Gaudet’s departure from the development corporation isn’t clear and sources have said he was fired without cause.
The corporation’s board of directors official statement was that Gaudet “left to pursue other career opportunities.”
University President Alan Wildeman said Gaudet is the ideal candidate for the position.
“Ron is ideally suited to help in the development of best practices that will see our innovation cluster meet this objective and be recognized provincially and nationally,” Wildeman said in a press release.
