Like Paris before, Windsor becomes the City of Light as the switches are turned on at dusk tonight for a million festive lights.
Municipal parks and facilities crews have been busy stringing up lights along local streets and throughout Windsor’s parks. The intersection of Dougall Avenue and the E.C. Row Expressway alone boasts about a half-million Christmas lights.
“We are very proud of our city parks, and we urge people to enjoy them year round,” said John Miceli, the city’s executive director of parks and facilities. The seasonal decorative lighting, he added, is designed to entice people to “stay active in the winter and enjoy walking in the riverfront parks.”
Trees and lamp posts have been adorned with lights on Ouellette Avenue and at Dieppe Gardens and other riverfront parks, along Howard Avenue and in Charles Clark Square, at Mackenzie Hall, and at the WFCU Centre, Lanspeary Park, Gino & Liz Marcus Community Complex and Jackson Park.
