The westbound lanes of Highway 401 will be shut down until at least 12 p.m. today after a fatal tractor-trailer crash.
The single vehicle crash happened around 1:20 a.m. on the 401 near Charing Cross Road.
Chatham-Kent OPP said a tractor-trailer headed east on the 401 drove through the median, spilling its load of paper products across the westbound lanes, before crashing into the north ditch.
The driver, a 56-year-old man from Lockport, New York, was later pronounced dead at hospital. An autopsy is scheduled.
The clean-up continues and OPP technical collision investigators are on scene. The westbound 401 at Highway 40, which is exit 90, will be closed until around noon.
