Chatham-Kent police have several people in custody after two unrelated domestic disturbances over the weekend.

Early Monday morning police arrested a 25-year-old man after a pregnant woman reported that a man pushed her and hit her in her abdomen. The woman went to hospital as a precaution.

The woman also alleged a number of previous incidents of assault and mischief at their residence by the same man.

Officers charged the Wallaceburg man with three counts of assault and two counts of mischief under $5,000. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

In the second incident, police arrested a man and a woman after a Sunday morning altercation at a party in Chatham.

Police said the incident began with the pair arguing, followed by the man pushing, hitting and choking the woman. The woman was able to free herself and then proceeded to damage the man’s pick-up truck.

Officers charged a 26-year-old Chatham woman with mischief under $5,000. She was released from custody pending a future court date.

A 23-year-old Alberta man was arrested and charged with three counts of assault and three counts of choking, some arising from alleged previous assaults. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
