An investigation has been launched into an allegation of missing funds from a local CUPE office, The Star has confirmed.
Windsor police have been given information and are in the early stages of assessing the complaint, said a union official.
“The union became aware of some discrepancies in their books and have notified police,” the official said.
Police were saying little Thursday regarding the CUPE complaint of alleged missing funds.
“I can’t comment on an ongoing investigation,” said Windsor police Det. Glenn Gervais.
One source indicated the membership was made aware at a recent meeting that financial records showed there was a large sum missing from union dues in 2011 and records from other years were now being investigated by union reps.
