About 75 people have been displaced from their homes following an apartment fire in Essex early this morning.
Emergency crews responded to the Maplewood Apartments on Brien Avenue shortly after 4 a.m. this morning.
Jim Steele, chief executive of the Windsor-Essex Community Housing corporation which operates the complex, said while only eight units suffered smoke and water damage, 66 are out of commission.
Emergency crews were unable to shut off power to just those affected apartments and so about 75 people have been displaced.
Fire investigators have left the scene of the blaze and they have not yet determined the cause.
More to come.
