Officials say body shop fire caused $300,000 damage

An investigation into the cause of a fire early Friday at a west side body shop has determined the blaze caused $300,000 in damage.

A cause of the fire will be released when an investigation by the Windsor police arson unit and a representative of the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office is completed, investigators said Saturday.

Windsor police responded around 12: 20 a.m. to Windsor Body and Fender at 1850 University Ave. W. When they arrived, firefighters were already on scene battling heavy smoke and flames.
