A flood advisory issued by the The Essex Region Conservation Authority on Tuesday came and went without reports of flooding.

After originally issuing the watch Tuesday afternoon, ERCA the extended its flood watch until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Tim Byrne, director of watershed management services for the authority, said the decision to extend the watch was due to the current existing runoff resulting from earlier rains and snowmelt combined with additional rain predicted for Wednesday. In the end, the rains were not extensive enough to cause flooding.

John Henderson, ERCA regulations and engineering assistant, said at midday Wednesday that local waterways were handling the flow quite well, given the wet conditions on the ground.

Mario Sonego, spokesman for the Windsor Public Works Department, said there was “nothing out of the ordinary” to report on local flooding. He added that, although some homeowners had standing water in backyards there was no over topping of ditches serious water backups.
