Friends and family of Samantha Stanley, who suffered serious burns and lost her boyfriend in a fire in February, have planned a fundraiser to help the young women get her life back on track.
“She lost everything: her clothes, her personal belongings, anything she had,” family friend Steve Larsh said Thursday.
Stanley, 21, had plans for completing nursing school when an early-morning blaze struck Feb. 23 in the third-floor apartment in the 6600 block of Thornberry Crescent, where she lived with her boyfriend Martin Bossom, 30. Bossom later died from his injuries.
Stanley spent time in critical condition in a medically induced coma at Hamilton General Hospital, where she was transferred from Windsor Regional Hospital Friday. She suffered serious burns to her torso and arms.
Larsh said she is out of hospital and back in Windsor but still has a long road ahead of her.
The chicken and pasta fundraising dinner for Samantha Stanley will be held June 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mr. Biggs Eatery at 405 Notre Dame Street, Belle River. Tickets are $20. For more information contact Steve Larsh at 519-728-4351.
