Car crashes are the leading cause of death for children in Canada, which is a driving factor behind a team of local
volunteers who hold free monthly clinics to ensure car seat safety.
The certified car seat technicians set up stations at various locations throughout Windsor and Essex County each month to inspect and install child safety seats while educating patents on proper installation techniques.
This month, the clinic was held Saturday at the Windsor Fire and Rescue hall on Matthew Brady Avenue and was sponsored by Windsor Regional Hospital.
New mom Sandra Maxwell was one of the dozens who attended.
“You want your baby to be the most safe it can be in a vehicle,” said Maxwell. “You never know when an accident is going to happen so the best you can do is be prepared for when it does happen and have them in the safest position possible.”
